Sometimes you have a verbal slip. Ty Gibbs had to correct himself after talking about the Brickyard 400 field today at Indy. Gibbs almost forgot that Katherine Legge is in the race as he talked about the challenge ahead of him on Sunday.

Ty Gibbs isn’t just trying to win the race on Sunday. He has the In-Season Tournament finale to worry about as well. If he beats Ty Dillon today, he will win $1,000,000 as the Cup Series season starts to get closer to the playoffs.

While speaking to the media, Gibbs had a verbal slip. He did manage to correct himself though in a funny moment.

“Ty Gibbs says he’s not just racing against Ty Dillon this weekend but also ’40 other dudes out there’ and then catches himself and says ’40 other people.’ (Katherine Legge is in the race),” Jeff Gluck of The Athletic reported.

Katherine Legge has lots of experience at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in IndyCar. Now, she’s giving stock cars a try in the Xfinity and Cup Series races this weekend. Ty Gibbs remembered that and corrected himself. Just a funny moment during a whirlwind season.

A win this weekend for Ty Gibbs would mean more than just a big payday. It would be a career-defining moment for the young Cup Series driver.

Ty Gibbs qualifies P5 at Indianapolis

When it comes to Sunday, Ty Gibbs is in a great position. P5 in qualifying, the top-five cars are all Toyotas. It is going to be a great day for the Joe Gibbs Racing group. Gibbs’ teammate, Chase Briscoe, is on the pole.

Chase Briscoe barely beat out Bubba Wallace for the pole. Toyota has the first five starting spots locked down today. It looked like Denny Hamlin was going to blow everyone out of the water by two-tenths of a second, but he wound up in the Turn 2 wall.

Turn 2 was treacherous today for so many drivers. That is the place to watch for Sunday’s Brickyard 400.

This season has been very good for Chase Briscoe on the qualifying side of things. He has now won five pole awards and has the pole for the Daytona 500, Coca-Cola 600, and Brickyard 400. Briscoe is the first driver to ever accomplish that feat in the same season.

A few drivers are going to have to make their way through the field. There is the finale of the In-Season Tournament going on between Ty Dillon and Ty Gibbs. A lot to keep your eyes on for Sunday’s Brickyard 400.
