Ty Gibbs reacts to Denny Hamlin incident during NASCAR Playoffs at New Hampshire

Before the end of Stage 2, Ty Gibbs found himself out of the New Hampshire NASCAR Cup Series race and in the care center. Gibbs was spun out by teammate Denny Hamlin. Then, he had an incident while racing by himself. Ultimately, he will have a DNF today.
Denny Hamlin is racing for a championship; Ty Gibbs is not. Gibbs was holding Hamlin up for multiple laps until the veteran racer got tired of it. That led to Gibbs spinning out on the track.
After leading the infield care center, Gibbs kept his feelings unknown. He gave a pretty canned, albeit funny, answer.
After saying it was “unfortunate” and that he will look forward to next week, Gibbs was asked about what Hamlin said on his radio. “Yeah. We’ll have a good race next week, looking forward to it.”
When he was off of TV, Ty Gibbs opened up a little bit. He spoke to a scrum of media members.
“Yeah, but we got wrecked there,” Gibbs told Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. “So, we’ll go see them next week.”
This race got very testy very quickly for these two teammates. Ty Gibbs has a right to hold his position and race hard. But Denny Hamlin has the right to assume his teammate would give him a break, especially in this situation in the NASCAR Playoffs.
Time and again, Gibbs has shown that he doesn’t necessarily play well with others. Hamlin gave him a warning shot before the spin happened, and Gibbs didn’t listen.

Denny Hamlin was fuming before Ty Gibbs spin
On the radio in the laps leading up to the spin, Denny Hamlin was fuming. He was asking his team to talk to Ty Gibbs and get them on the same page. That didn’t happen.
“This is some teammate bulls**t,” Hamlin said on his radio before the wreck. He had a few other choice words to say about it as he raced behind the 54.
Gibbs went around, and Hamlin was ultimately the reason why. Then again, Hamlin warned Gibbs beforehand with a hard bump. These two teammates are not going to have a fun meeting on Monday.
Denny Hamlin was complaining for a while before this wreck happened. He wanted Ty Gibbs to give him a break. After all, Gibbs is not racing for a title; Hamlin is. So, what’s the line there when racing against a teammate in this situation?
