Ty Majeski reacts to black flag in Snowball Derby: 'I feel like we won this race'

A very unfortunate end to the Snowball Derby for Ty Majeski. The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver dominated all day. However, a late black flag took the win away from him as the driver was accused of jumping the restart twice.

Ty Majeski was black flagged, but refused to pull off the track. He finished the race, despite not being scored for several laps towards the end. This was his race, his car dominated, and it would have been a historic third Snowball Derby win.

All of that went away with the black flag. Stephen Nasse has been declared the winner instead, with Dawson Sutton finishing P2.

“I don’t know, I felt like I was being pretty consistent. The first one, I certainly jumped. We got chatter that the 51 was going to try and jump,” Majeski explained on FloRacing. “I was trying to anticipate that, and we got a mulligan. The rule is to pick up the pace to the line. I thought I did that, and obviously, then fired.

“The way the rule is written is not black and white. So, it leaves a lot of questions and kind of balls and strike calls. Yeah, I don’t know. I don’t have much to say. Fast Menards Ford Fusion with iRacing on the hood. Obviously, the dominant racecar. So, yeah, I’d like to talk to somebody. So, whoever race control is, I’d like to at least have a conversation about it.”

As far as what he plans to do, clearly, Ty Majeski stayed out for a reason. He felt he should not have been penalized.

“I don’t know. I feel like we won this race,” Majeski said. “Had the best car all day and yeah, going to try and argue it, of course.”

Stephen Nasse wins Snowball Derby after Ty Majeski black flag

After a restart violation, Ty Majeski was black flagged, leading Stephen Nasse to win the rain-delayed Snowball Derby! Nasse gets his Snowball Derby win back after losing it to technical inspection in 2019. What a win for the short-track driver.

Ty Majeski did not pull off the track after the black flag. He clearly did not agree with the ruling from track officials. Stephen Nasse was in the right place at the right time and is now a Snowball winner.

This is going to be a Snowball Derby to remember. The weather delays, the redemption story after his previous win, and the subsequent DQ. Nasse gets the win in Pensacola! This is the first Super Late Model win of the year for Nasse, making up for months of struggles with one big win in December. So, he finally makes up for that one that got away.
