Today’s NASCAR race for Tyler Reddick ended up in a P7 finish. However, back home, his family is dealing with a serious situation. Reddick’s four-month-old son, Rookie, is in the hospital at Levine Children’s. His wife, Alexa, put the news out on social media earlier today.

Tyler Reddick did not have a backup driver, and the plan was to race today. After the race, he confirmed that it was a decision he and his family had agreed on together. It is still a scary position to be in as a parent.

“It’s difficult, it’s not what you want for your kids,” Reddick said, via Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. “It’s not, as a father, my first son, Beau’s hit his head, bruised himself up, cut himself up, but yeah. What my won Rookie is going through is serious. A tricky situation and just more than anything, just ready to get on a plane and go home.”

Tyler Reddick also spoke somewhat of Rookie’s condition. The family felt it was fine for him to remain in Kansas and race.

“Thankfully, um, you know, he’s doing well enough where I don’t know where you even classify it,” Reddick said. “I would[n’t] say it was off the table depending on how things were going, but thankfully he’s doing well enough to where me and my wife are on the same page about staying.”

A situation no parent wants to go through. Our thoughts and prayers are with Tyler Reddick and his family during this time.

Tyler Reddick’s son rookie in the hospital for heart issue

Earlier today, Alexa Reddick posted on her Instagram about Rookie and his situation. The four-month-old is experiencing signs of heart failure. Alexa and Rookie are at Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte. She has asked the NASCAR community for their prayers during this time.

“After a run around for months with the pediatrician office I knew what was going on was something bigger. Always trust your mom gut,” Alexa Reddick wrote on Instagram. “Our sweet Rookie was showing signs of heart failure that were being missed. Please please pray for this sweet guy that God heals his heart. With God, Rookie, and his amazing doctors here at Levine’s I believe He can. We are in the cardiovascular ICU while we get some answers and work on improving heart function. I usually don’t share our personal lives but I’m hoping you take the time to pray for him today.”
