One of the best things about 23XI Racing is the fact Michael Jordan goes to so many races to cheer on Tyler Reddick and Bubba Wallace. This season, his driver won the NASCAR regular season championship. He is a favorite to win the big one in Phoenix.

Tyler Reddick has sported the Jumpman logo many times before. He has won with the Jumpman logo on his car as well. This season, Michael Jordan held Reddick’s son Beau after Talladega. Reddick joined them in Victory Lane as he won the race on a last-lap pass.

While speaking with Kevin Harvick on the Happy Hour podcast, Reddick talked about Jordan’s role in 23XI. The co-owner is not just a name or a figurehead for the team. He is studying the sport at all times.

“It’s really, really cool, honestly. It’s something that’s hard to put into words, right?” Tyler Reddick said. “Many of us, right, grew up, well a lot of what he did was before my time, but certainly, everyone knows who he is, what he’s accomplished. It’s just really really cool to see how passionate he is about racing and just see how much he cares about this race team and watching it go in the right direction.

“I go back to Daytona, going into that race, he was sitting there, we were all standing around talking before the race. I swear he goes back and watches film. He had a pretty good idea of how Daytona was going to play out and I kid you not, it played out, kind of like he said it was going to.

“He really does love this sport. Just hearing his knowledge, the technical knowledge is growing day by day. Coming into it, he only had access to what he did, which was TV and what a normal fan would have access to. And just seeing him just sponge all the information up that me and Bubba give to him, that the crew chiefs give to him, the leadership this company gives to him it’s just really really cool to see how bought in he is into this process.”

So, Michael Jordan knows racing. That is interesting, but not surprising. Someone who is able to read defenses and understand the complexities of the game of basketball on the level of MJ can likely pick up on the intricacies of racing.

Tyler Reddick vouches for his boss. He knows game. During the season, it has been fun to watch the 23XI ownership group. Even if they are the black sheep of the NASCAR family at the moment, they are important for the sport.

We are going to see more of MJ this season. His driver has a real shot to win a championship. We are likely going to see more Jordan Brand paint schemes as well. Could the 45 be the 2024 Cup Series champion?
