Tyreek Hill injury update: Patrick Mahomes reacts to former teammate's game-ending injury

Tyreek Hill was carted off the field during the third quarter of the Miami Dolphins Monday Night Football matchup against the New York Jets following a gruesome knee injury. His former teammate, Kansas Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes, provided an instant reaction to his teammate’s injury.
“Prayers up man,” Mahomes said following a couple of pray emojis. The two were teammates in Kansas City from 2017-2021.
Hill has since been taken to a local hospital for further evaluation. The Dolphins star wideout was shown on the broadcast being wheeled out of the stadium with a brace on his leg.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Hill was diagnosed with a dislocated knee. Though, NFL insider Ian Rapoport added that it’s “far worse” than just dislocated, as the injury “often comes with multiple ligament years.”
He was leading the Dolphins in receptions and receiving yards at the time of his injury, leaving the game after six receptions for 67 yards. In fact, Hill made a catch at the time of his injury. Hill made a diving catch near the sideline for a 10-yard gain. Jets safety Malachi Moore made the tackle on the play.

Hill’s status remains to be seen, but the injury looked gruesome enough to believe he could miss extended time for the Dolphins. They’ll hope to get him back in the lineup soon, as at the time of the injury he’s the team’s leading receive on the season. He has 21 receptions for 265 yards and a touchdown on the young season.
Hill was beginning his 10th season in the NFL, and fourth with the Dolphins. In 2024, he played in all 17 regular season games for Miami, who missed out on the postseason after an 8-9 finish to the 2024-25 season. He ended the year with 959 yards, the first time he finished under 1,000 yards since 2019 when he was with the Kansas City Chiefs.
The 2019-2020 season was the same year that Hill helped the Chiefs win their first Super Bowl of the Patrick Mahomes era. For the first several years of his career, Hill was Mahomes’ go-to receiver during his first several years in the NFL.
Hill has never had to miss extended time with an injury during his NFL career. He’s only missed one Dolphins game in three seasons and the most amount of games he’s missed in a single season was four back in 2019.
