Tyreek Hill responds to Indianapolis Colts deleted schedule release video

The Indianapolis Colts were forced to delete their 2025 NFL schedule release video following an IP violation, as well as backlash stemming from their depiction of Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill during the clip.

The video, which was Minecraft-inspired, portrayed Hill as a dolphin who was getting arrested by the Coast Guard. This references the incident before Week 1 of the 2024 season where Hill was detained in handcuffs outside of Hard Rock Stadium. Hill has since responded to the controversy on social media — and his reaction may surprise some people.

Despite the light-hearted reaction from the Dolphins star wide receiver, the Colts still issued an apology to not only Hill, but to Microsoft for the intellectual property issue. The team released their statement to ESPN on Thursday:

“We removed our schedule release video because it exceeded our rights with Microsoft and included an insensitive clip involving Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill. We sincerely apologize to Microsoft and Tyreek,” the team said.

Coming up on a year since the incident occurred, Hill was cited for speeding at a “visual estimation of 60 mph,” not wearing a seat belt and careless driving before the 2024 season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Bodycam footage was released soon after, where multiple officers can be seen taking Hill down to the ground before he is placed in handcuffs. He was later released and played in the Week 1 matchup. He would go on to catch seven passes for 130 yards and one touchdown in the Dolphins’ 20-17 victory over Jacksonville.

He went on to finish the 2024 NFL season with 81 catches totaling 959 yards and six touchdowns. It was the first time in four seasons that Hill didn’t surpass 1,000-yards receiving. However, he still made a strong impact on the field when the ball was in his hands.

With Hill coming away from the incident unscathed and able to play football the very same day, it doesn’t appear to have any long-lasting implications. By his statement regarding the Colts’ schedule release, Hill appears to have taken a light-hearted mindset about the situation. Although, he may be a bit more motivated to perform well in the season-opening matchup against Indianapolis for the jab.

The Indianapolis Colts will host the Miami Dolphins during Week 1 on Sept. 7 inside Lucas Oil Stadium with kickoff slated for 1 p.m. ET. The game will be aired live regionally on CBS.
