Tyrese Haliburton injury update: ESPN broadcast confirms Pacers star suffered Achilles ailment
ESPN has confirmed that Tyrese Haliburton suffered an Achilles injury during Game 7 of the NBA Finals on Sunday. On the broadcast, Lisa Salters said the Indiana Pacers star is in “good spirits” and “watching the game in the locker room.”
The injury happened in the first quarter. In the second quarter, Salters announced that Haliburton had been ruled out by the Pacers.
Tyrese Haliburton was dealing with an injury heading into Sunday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. He suffered a calf strain in Game 5 but played in Game 6 and scored 14 points in the Pacers 108-91 victory over the Thunder.
On Saturday, Haliburton spoke to reporters about his calf injury. “I’m pretty much in the same standpoint I was before Game 6. A little stiff, a little sore, rather,” he said. “Good thing I only had to play like 23 minutes. I’ve been able to get even more treatment and do more things. Just trying to take care of it the best I can. But I’ll be ready to go for Game 7.”

Tyrese Haliburton explains what makes the Pacers special
Tyrese Haliburton is a big reason the Pacers are playing in the NBA Finals for the first time since 2000. The Iowa State alum averaged 18.6 points and 9.2 assists in 73 regular season games. His work on the court has led to him being named to the All-NBA Third Team for the second consecutive year.
“I think as a group we’ve just been very resilient throughout the playoffs,” Haliburton told reporters on Saturday. “We’re a group of guys that get along really well and are trying to do something special. I think the expectations for this group from an external viewpoint coming into the year weren’t very high. They weren’t very high coming into the playoffs. They weren’t very high going into the second round of the playoffs. They weren’t very high going into the third round. They weren’t very high now.I think we just have done a great job of just staying together.”
