UFC's Tony Ferguson charged with DUI after truck wreck

Tony Ferguson has been charged with a DUI after the UFC fighter allegedly wrecked his car in Hollywood in May, according to TMZ Sports. Reportedly, Ferguson is pleading not guilty in the case.
The charge comes after authorities reported Ferguson wrecking his truck into two cars outside a Hollywood club at around 2 a.m. last month. Ferguson’s truck ultimately suffered the worst damage, flipping on its side.
Officers claim Ferguson refused to take a sobriety test at the crime scene. However, it’s worth noting TMZ Sports reports officers also informed them that “cops who eyeballed him claimed he reeked of booze and had bloodshot eyes.”
The past few years have not been kind to Ferguson. The 39-year-old fighter has lost five fights in a row, most recently falling to fan-favorite Nate Diaz via a Round 4 submission. Ferguson’s last victory came against Donald Cerrone on June 8, 2019.
At one time, Ferguson was one of the top fighters on the UFC roster. The mixed-martial artist ran off 11-straight wins in the UFC from 2013 to 2018, including victories over respected fighters such as Kevin Lee and Edson Barboza.

Ferguson’s decline in the octagon aligns with troubles in his daily life. In 2019, Tony Ferguson’s wife filed a request for a temporary domestic violence restraining order after Ferguson reportedly took their son for six days, per court records.
Additionally, Ferguson’s wife wrote in her request that Ferguson, “grabbed and pushed me and my mother, and we have been in constant fear as a result of [Ferguson’s] threatening and violent behavior.”
Tony Ferguson’s next fight is set to be against Bobby Green, who hold a professional record of 29-14-1 and 10-9-1 in the UFC. Nonetheless, before Ferguson faces Green, he must return to court for another hearing on the DUI later this month.
