UL Monroe at Alabama odds: Early point spread updated, How to Watch

Alabama will host UL Monroe in Week 2 in a non-conference matchup that should be a bounce-back opportunity for the Crimson Tide. While it’s not a complete gimme, it’s the type of game any team with playoff aspirations should be able to manage pretty easily.
Of course, Alabama’s playoff hopes took a major hit in the opening week of the season. The program tripped up in a road test at Florida State, looking quite suspect as a whole.
Ahead of Week 2’s matchup with UL Monroe, the early point spread and more have been revealed. All odds are courtesy of BetMGM. The Crimson Tide has opened as a 37.5-point favorite over the Warhawks. The over/under is set at 50.5 points.

The most glaring issue for Alabama — and there were plenty of them to go around — in the season opener against Florida State was the play of the offensive line. New starting quarterback Ty Simpson was often running for his life behind the line.
That caused the entire rhythm of the offense to be thrown off. Simpson did his best, throwing for 254 yards and two touchdowns without an interception. But it wasn’t enough to keep up with Florida State.

Somehow Alabama has to find a way to get its playmakers like Ryan Williams a little more involved. While Germie Bernard had a breakout performance in the loss to the Seminoles, the Tide couldn’t find a consistent second option. Williams certainly has the potential to be that guy if he’s healthy.
On the other side, Alabama had trouble slowing down dual-threat quarterback Tommy Castellanos. Castellanos, who talked a big game entering the opener, backed it up completely.
The former Boston College transfer ran for 78 yards and and a touchdown, while throwing for 152 yards in the contest. The Alabama defense needs to avoid a repeat outing.
In any case, BetMGM’s odds show a game that shouldn’t be terribly close. But nothing can be taken for granted on Saturdays, as Alabama learned in Week 1.
