Video shows the moment Bronny James was selected by Lakers in 2024 NBA Draft

Bronny James is the newest member of the Los Angeles Lakers organization and will play with his father, LeBron, during his rookie season.
The NBA world is talking about the league’s first-ever father-son duo, and Bronny’s reaction to the highly-anticipated moment was caught on camera by his little brother, Bryce.
Check out the moment when Bronny found out he would be a Laker below:
While Bronny fell to the 55th pick — three away from going undrafted — it was clear that the Lakers were zeroing in on the NBA legacy. During the lead up to the pick, it was reported that Bronny would play in the NBL in Australia if another team were to draft him.
“I will say right now Rich Paul is calling teams, ‘Don’t take Bronny James,'” reported Bob Myers on the air. “He’s telling them do not take him. You take him he’s going to Australia. So he has a plan and he has a place.”
Ultimately, he went right where he was supposed to. He’ll look to make the most of his rookie season beginning in a few weeks at the 2024 NBA Summer League.

In college, Bronny played in 25 games where he averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 steals. Before college, James arrived on campus at USC as a highly touted recruit. A four-star prospect, he was the No. 25 overall prospect from the 2023 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. On3 was the only service to rank James as a five-star.
It’s no secret that James’ production and lack of starting experience at the college level represent that of an NBA Draft selection. But with his father previously expressing the desire to eventually play alongside his son in the NBA, the two now become the first father-son duo to play in the NBA at the same time and on the same team.
What NBA Draft experts are saying about Bronny James
At 6-foot-2, 210 pounds James does not have the typical size of a guard in the NBA, which could give him trouble on both ends of the floor at the next level. But at the NBA Combine, he did display impressive athleticism and shooting ability. With most evaluators viewing James as a potential 3-and-D player at the NBA level who may need further development in the NBA G League.
“James excels in catch-and-shoot situations and shows great energy and instincts on defense,” read RotoWire‘s profile on James. “At 6-foot-2, he lacks size at the NBA level, but his athleticism is considered elite. James can handle the ball and is a willing passer but isn’t a true point guard.”
