Vikings first-round WR Jordan Addison cited for reckless driving after going 140 mph

Minnesota Vikings first-round draft pick Jordan Addison was stopped by Minnesota State Patrol in the early hours of Thursday morning, according to SI reporter Bill Enright. MSP incident data reveals that officers spotted a driver in a Lamborghini Urus driving 140 miles per hour in a 55-mile-per-hour stretch of I-94.
Troopers performed a traffic stop, identifying the driver of the Lamborghini as former USC wide receiver Jordan Addison. Addison received a citation for speeding and reckless driving around 3:07 a.m.
The Minnesota Vikings drafted Addison with the No. 23 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Now, he’s less than a week away from his first training camp.
“We are aware of last night’s traffic incident involving Jordan Addison and are gathering additional information,” the Vikings shared in a statement, via Ian Rapoport.
Addison began his collegiate career at Pittsburgh, where he elevated his game from a pass-catcher with tremendous potential, to one of the top wide receivers in all of the country.
He captured the Biletnikoff Award in his final season with the Panthers, where he caught 100 passes for 1,593 receiving yards and 17 receiving touchdowns.
Afterward, almost every school in the country was in search of his services, but the USC Trojans won out. While not as productive as his final year at Pitt, Addison still put up impressive numbers during his lone season in Los Angeles. He amassed 59 receptions for 875 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns in 2022.

Addison ready to pick up where Adam Thielen left off
During a recent appearance on the NFL Network, Addison said he has confidence he can deliver in Adam Thielen’s stead after the Pro-Bowler left for Carolina this offseason.
“I ain’t going to get into it too much, comparing. I just know what I can do,” Addison said. “I’m confident, and I am going to fill his shoes.”
Thielen took career totals of 534 receptions, 6,684 receiving yards, and 55 receiving touchdowns with him to Carolina. In 2022, he was behind only Justin Jefferson in every major receptions stat for Minnesota.
Addison shared how Jefferson has provided him with a very solid blueprint as he prepares himself for success in the NFL.
“Oh, man, it’s just been all learning for me. Not too much talking,” Addison said. “Just out there on the field watching what he do. Just trying to pick his brain to see why he wants to run his routes the way he do.”
