Kansas City Chiefs LT Wanya Morris suffered a season-ending knee injury on Sunday night vs. the Houston Texans, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Morris went down in the second half and was unable to put any weight on his knee as trainers helped him off the field.

Morris was filling in for injured rookie left tackle Josh Simmons, who underwent surgery on his left wrist last week. Simmons is on injured reserve and will miss at least the next three games after sitting out on Sunday.

That meant the Chiefs were down to its third left tackle protecting Patrick Mahomes blindside on Sunday. Esa Pole, a rookie from Washington State, filled in for the Chiefs at left tackle for the rest of the game. Kansas City would ultimately lose to Houston 20-10 and drop to 6-7 on the season.

Injuries along the offensive line has been common as of late for the Chiefs. Right tackle Jawaan Taylor and Pro Bowl right guard Trey Smith were both inactive during Sunday night’s loss as well.

Kansas City was still able to muster 126 rushing yards and a touchdown despite their injuries up front. Mahomes was the team’s leading rusher with 59 yards, while tailback Kareem Hunt was responsible for the Chiefs’ lone touchdown of the game. Hunt finished the game with 12 carries for 30 yards.

Mahomes finished the matchup completing 14-33 attempts for 160 yards and three interceptions. He was sacked twice and finished the game with a 19.7 QBR.

The Chiefs could look to find help on Mahomes’ blindside before Kansas City’s next matchup, which will be on Dec. 14 vs. the Los Angeles Chargers. After that, they’ll round out the regular season with matchups at the Tennessee Titans, vs. Denver Broncos and at the Las Vegas Raiders. The Titans and Raiders are a combined 4-22 this season.

Travis Kelce reveals when he will decide on future with Kansas City Chiefs

Looking ahead to 2026 Travis Kelce said his decision will come in time for both free agency and the NFL Draft. Until then, his focus will be on the task at hand on the field.

“I want to give the Chiefs a good opportunity, whether I come back or not – or whether they want me back or not,” Kelce said, via ESPN’s Nate Taylor. “I’d like to make that decision before they’ve got to get draft picks and free agency opens to fill the roster appropriately. All that will be at the end of the season. I won’t be thinking about it until then.”
