Washington Commanders sign Jayden Daniels, rookie contract details revealed

Jayden Daniels is the future piece for the Washington Commanders after they selected him with the No. 2 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Now, the team officially has him signed on the dotted line on his first contract as a professional.
Daniels signed a 4-year contract worth $37.75M, with the entire contract fully guaranteed. Additionally, the former LSU QB will receive a signing bonus of $24.3M.
After Caleb Williams went No. 1 to Chicago as expected, Washington had their choice of Daniels and Drake Maye. Much debate was had over the course of the draft process on which one would be their pick. In the end, they went with Daniels as Maye went right after to the New England Patriots at No. 3.
“My childhood dream came true,” Daniels said after being the Commanders’ selection. “I’m blessed to be here and be able to hear my name called.”
“We knew it was Jayden for a while and it would’ve taken a lot for it to not be Jayden,” GM Adam Peters said. “If we could’ve run it up, we would’ve run that pick up.”

Daniels arrives in the nation’s capital after five seasons in Tempe with Arizona State and Baton Rouge at LSU. In that collegiate career with the Sun Devils and Tigers, he threw for 12,750 yards, 89 touchdowns, and 20 interceptions on a 66.3% completion rate. He also rushed for over 3,300 yards and 34 more scores.
2023 highlighted that half-decade with Daniels having a career year and being the best player in college football. In leading the No. 1 offense in the nation, he threw for 3,812 yards, 40 touchdowns, and just four picks on 72.2% completion. He ran for another 1,134 yards, good for 8.4 per carry, and 10 scores too. That won him The Heisman Trophy and made him a Consensus All-American.
Daniels is now the face of the franchise in Washington D.C. as he goes into his rookie season. That comes with a nice payday as of today with him and the team agreeing to terms on this deal.
