Watch: Former LSU Tigers offensive lineman Austin Deculus drops impressive 40 time in style

If you don’t believe that players from the SEC are fast, check out this unofficial 40 time from former LSU Tigers offensive lineman Austin Deculus. Deculus not only drops an impressive 40 time, but he does it in style.

Deculus’s primary position is offensive tackle, which is a position not known for its straight-line speed, but more so for its brute strength. It is uncommon to see an offensive tackle run a sub 5.20 flat 40-yard dash, which is exactly what the former Tiger did on Friday.

As you can see, Deculus crosses the line with an unofficial time of 5.12 seconds; beating out his first time of 5.13 by one 100th of a second. He is yet to complete any of the other combine activities such as the bench press or the three-cone shuttle, but so far he’s off to a fast start.

The NFL would later announce Deculus clocked in with a time of 5.08 seconds, which was good for the eighth-best time among linemen as of this writing.

If Deculus can’t continue to impress throughout the event, look for him to shoot up draft boards in NFL franchise’s war rooms. And quite possibly become one of the top if not the top lineman selected in the 2022 NFL draft.
