Will Campbell injury update: Patriots LT carted off field in tears vs. Bengals

The New England Patriots suffered a massive loss in their game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. First round pick and starting left tackle Will Campbell would be carted off the field, seemingly in tears, after suffering a leg injury.
While it’s difficult to speculate about injuries, it appeared to be an issue relating to his right knee. On the cart, he covered his face with a towel. Initially, the Patriots listed him as questionable to return to the game.
New England selected Will Campbell with the fourth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. He had been a standout at LSU during his college career and that helped him become the first offensive lineman taken in the draft. That was even with the criticism that his arm length could present a challenge to him at the next level and may force him to move to the interior of the offensive line.
Campbell quickly became a popular player on the Patriots roster and made his presence felt along that offensive line. Becoming the team’s anchor, Campbell earned the starting left tackle job with job of protecting sensation second-year QB Drake Maye. At the time he was drafted, Campbell said he’s “gonna fight and die to protect” Maye standing back in the pocket.
Unfortunately, the injury to Will Campbell wasn’t the only one that the Patriots offensive line suffered on the day. Left guard Jared Wilson was also carted off the field against Cincinnati. That came on just the third play of the game against the Bengals. In his case, it appeared to be an ankle injury. Ben Brown would ultimately come in to replace him.

Right tackle Morgan Moses also had to leave the game. However, his situation seems to be related to an illness and less serious.
New England will need to quickly figure out a way to address these gaps along the offensive line. With the emergence of young stars like Drake Maye and TreVeyon Henderson, the offensive line’s improvement has been an unsung hero for New England.
At the time of writing, New England leads Cincinnati 23-13 in the fourth quarter. A win in this game would be nine in a row for the Patriots and would move the team to 10-2 on the season. That’s after they won just eight games in the last two years combined. It would also help further solidify their lead in the AFC East.
