Will Howard gives early impressions of working with Aaron Rodgers

The Pittsburgh Steelers bringing in Aaron Rodgers does more than just help them during the 2025 season. Rodgers will also have the opportunity to mentor Will Howard, somebody the Steelers took on Day 3 of the NFL Draft. Howard was always going to need some development and now, nobody better to work behind than Rodgers.
Early on, Rodgers appears to still be attempting to be a part of the group. Howard revealed Rodgers tries not to “overstep” but the rookie quickly makes sure the veteran makes his voice heard. He told the story while laughing and wants to soak up as much information as possible.
“When he says it, he’s like, ‘I don’t want to overstep,’ I’m like, ‘dude, you’re—please, please by all means, tell me whatever you think,” Howard said.
Experience was never going to be an issue for Howard entering the NFL. Between his time at Kansas State and Ohio State, the quarterback played 50 games. The most important 16 of those came last season with the Buckeyes en route to a national championship.
In a world where the Steelers do not sign Rodgers, maybe Howard is competing for some playing time. Instead, Pittsburgh gets to rock with somebody who has played in nearly 250 NFL games spanning over two decades. A Super Bowl in on the resume as well, something Rodgers is attempting to win this season.

Most importantly, Rodgers is seemingly more than willing to help guide Howard throughout the early portion of his career. Maybe not so true at other spots, public support of the rookie has already come from Rodgers.
“Will’s a good kid,” Rodgers said. “He seems pretty bright. Not too big for him. Going through the progressions really well. I’m going to be with him very single day in every single meeting. Found my seat next to him in the offensive meeting. I’m going to help him as much as I can.”
If there is a similarity between Howard and Rodgers, it’s the newness of their situation. Both are in their first season in Pittsburgh and still learning the playbook. Rodgers may feel a little behind due to the timing of his signing but Howard knows all the wisdom potentially coming his way.
With minicamps just wrapping up, this is just the beginning. Before we know it, the Steelers will be back on the practice field for training camp where both guys will be a whole lot more up to speed.
