Will Levis injury update: HC Brian Callahan shares latest on Titans QB

In the first quarter of the Tennessee Titans’ 31-13 win over the Miami Dolphins on Sept. 30, quarterback Will Levis left the game with an injury to his throwing shoulder. On Monday, Titans head coach Brian Callahan provided an update on Levis’ condition.
Per TennesseeTitans.com’s Jim Wyatt, Callahan said Levis won’t practice on Monday but is expected to be in the practice routine later this week. Further, Callahan said Levis is improving and is better than he was after the game.
Levis did not return to the game and backup QB Mason Rudolph led the Titans to their first win of the season. In the win, Rudolph completed 9-of-his-17 pass attempts for 85 yards. He did not throw a touchdown or interception.
Although Rudolph boosted the Titans to victory, Callahan emphasized that Levis will continue to be the team’s starter when he’s healthy.
“If Will is healthy, he’s our quarterback,” Callahan said. “It was not a decision based on anything other than his health and protecting him, particularly with the bye week. The shoulder didn’t feel great.

“I didn’t want to put him back out there, and I knew I was gonna run the ball quite a bit, so that was really what factored in. But he’s our starter when he’s healthy and we’re ready to roll with him.”
Levis has had a tumultuous start to the 2024 campaign. He’s completed 68.4% of his passes for 604 yards and four touchdowns. However, he’s also thrown six interceptions. After the game on Monday, Callahan provided a more detailed explanation of Levis’s injury.
“Will hurt his shoulder on that scramble on third down,” Callahan said. “Tried to come back. It was bothering him. Ended up doing what he had to do to try to get back in the game, and ultimately I knew what kind of game it was gonna be with the bye week next week.
“Didn’t want to expose him to any further risk. He tried everything he could to go, but it was bothering him pretty significantly on his shoulder, so made a decision to hold him out.”
