Oregon State, head coach Trent Bray, and offensive coordinator Ryan Gunderson lost a marquee piece of their 2026 recruiting class on Tuesday afternoon as quarterback Deagan Rose, their longest-tenured 2026 pledge, had chosen to reopened his recruitment.

The Clovis, California, native posted the following to X on Tuesday afternoon

“I would like to thank the Oregon State University and the entire football staff for welcoming and supporting me in every way to their organization. At this time, I have decided to decommit from OSU. My recruitment is now open.”

Rose, who had been committed to Oregon State since July 5th, 2024, will now reopen his recruitment and begin to hear from other suitors. He joins Lakeridge (OR) EDGE Noah Tishendorf (West Virginia) and Lake Oswego RB Lamarcus Bell (Utah), who were once Beaver commits before decommitting and ultimately choosing elsewhere.

With no other quarterback commits in the class of 2026, the Beavers currently have junior Maalik Murphy, sophomore Gabarri Johnson, redshirt freshman Kallen Gutridge, and true-freshman Tristan Ti’a. Rose turned heads to start the 2025 campaign, as he opened his senior season with a touchdown performance.
