Clemons 2024 Recap
After spending the first two years of his career with Michigan, the Portland native and Westview alumnus Darrius Clemons opted to return to the West Coast and joined the Beavers ahead of the 2024 campaign. With the Beavers losing all three receiver starters following the end of 2023, the Beavers had a need at receiver, and Clemons needed a school that would allow him to showcase himself. A minor injury ahead of the start of the season resulted in a slow start to the campaign when he made his debut against Purdue in week four. He went on to play in every game from there on (nine total), including six straight starts to close out the year. Clemons tallied 29 receptions for 292 yards and two touchdowns, but had a breakout performance in the Beavers’ finale vs Boise State. He had eight catches for 123 yards and a score against the Broncos, nearly half of his season production in that contest.
Clemons 2025 Outlook
Entering the 2025 campaign, expecations are reasonably high for what Clemons will be able to do in his final season. Small sample size or not, the Boise State game showed what he can do against good competition, and with Maalik Murphy under center this season, he stands to benefit in a big way. Murphy is one of those quarterbacks who has the potential to elevate the play of his receivers, and he should be able to do that with Clemons. He boasts great size at 6-foot-3, 211 pounds and presents a big, athletic target for Murphy to throw to. Clemons is all but assured a starting spot alongside Trent Walker, and should be in line for a sizable season in terms of increased production with far better QB production.
