Davis 2024 Recap
During the 2024 campaign, Davis was entering his final season with the USC Trojans, but opted to redshirt after playing in just four games to preserve his final season eligibility, which he ultimatley used to transfer to Oregon State for his final season.
During his four-year stint with the Trojans, Davis played in 36 games, recorded 31 tackles with half a tackle for loss during his career, and posted a career-high 18 tackles in 2023. USC’s defense has been a bit of an adventure during Lincoln Riley’s tenure, so the Beavers will be looking to provide Davis with a sound defensive system and put him in better opportunities than the Trojans did.
Coming out of Mater Dei in the class of 2020, Davis was a four-star recruit and was named to the 2020 PrepStar Dream Team and the South California News Group Fab 15 First Team. He was also named the 2021 Cal-Hi Sports State Player of the Year.
Davis 2025 Outlook
Despite leaving the door open to return to USC after Davis discussed the redshirt season with Riley, he opted to hit the transfer portal and found a home in Oregon State, which is looking like it’ll be a hand-in-glove fit. The 6-foot, 221-pounder will compete for a starting position at inside linebacker, likely with Makiya Tongue, as Dexter Foster has a firm grip on the other ILB position. Davis brings a good range of experience, and I think he’ll end up getting a pretty close timeshare to Tongue.
Expect that trio of ILBs to see the majority of the snaps, and Davis was a great addition by the coaching staff to bolster the depth at the position following the offseason transfer departures of Isaiah Chisom and Melvin Jordan. He’s got the ideal size head coach Trent Bray looks for in his ILBs, and considering how effective he looked in spring, he’s a guy we think the Beavers will maximize. We’ve got Davis at No. 24 on our BeaversEdge Top-25 as we expect he’ll play a sizable role in the Beavers’ defensive efforts this season.
