For the second time this month, a major shake-up has occurred within the Oregon State athletic department. BeaversEdge can confirm that Oregon State Deputy Athletic Director and Chief Operating Officer Brent Blaylock is departing the university.

The move has been a work in progress for several days, ahead of it being reported on Monday afternoon.

It was a short stay for Blaylock in Corvallis, as he joined the university in May of 2024 after spending parts of eight years at the University of Arizona, starting as Associate Athletics Director for Compliance in July 2017 before becoming the Senior Associate A.D. for Administration and Institutional Control in 2021.

Blaylock’s departure from Oregon State comes on the heels of the controversial contract that Oregon State signed in August with Blueprint Sports for the marketing agency to oversee “revenue generation, fan engagement, and partnership development efforts” for student-athletes at the university.

The deal came under scrutiny in late September after a story originally published by Sportico. Within days of the story’s publication, Oregon State NIL general manager Kyle Bjornstad resigned from his position.

Blaylock’s departure is the second major news story in the past 24 hours for the Oregon State athletic department as well as it was reported that Oregon State athletic director Scott Bornes was facing a multi-million dollar lawsuit for wrongful termination by Beavers’ former rowing coach Gabriel Winker.

Earlier this month, Brent Blaylock sat down with BeaversEdge’s Ryan Harlan to discuss the university’s deal with Blueprint Sports. You can read that full interview here. Harlan also dove into the Blueprint Sports deal as a whole, here.

This is a developing story and will be updated as needed.
