Oregon State signee Lance McGee named Washington Player of the Year by MaxPreps
Oregon State signee Lance McGee earlier this week earned a major honor, being named the state of Washington’s Player of the Year by MaxPrep.
This season, McGee helped lead Sumner High School to a Washington state championship. While he is a fantastic linebacker prospect, his best stats however for his senior season came on the offensive side of the ball with 251 carries for 2,489 yards and 42 touchdowns.
In the state championship game over Lake Stevens, McGee put up a ridiculous 46 carries for 391 yards and six touchdowns.
McGee is ranked by the Rivals Industry Rankings as the No. 850 player nationally, the No. 72 linebacker and the No. 7 player in the state of Washington.
Here’s what we wrote about McGee in a scouting report over the summer shortly after his commitment to the Beavers.
““McGee, a standout now at Sumner High School in Sumner, Washington, is one of the top two-way stars in the Pacific Northwest. The 5-foot-11 McGee could play both linebacker and running back at the collegiate level but will be a linebacker for Oregon State. As a linebacker, McGee is a bit undersized as he’s around 5-foot-11 / 6-foot-0 but possesses the necessary athleticism and football IQ that makes up for any concerns regarding his size. McGee consistently shows to be a twitchy and instinctual player who has the physicality and mentality to flourish as a linebacker.
