Oregon State starts signing day with flip of Alabama prospect Caleb Metzner
The Oregon State Beavers’ coaching staff made their first splash on Wednesday morning when Alabama EDGE prospect Caleb Metzner announced his commitment and flip to the Beavers.
The Cottage Hill Christian Academy (Mobile, AL) prospect was previously committed to South Alabama but was garnering itnerest from the Alabama Crimson Tide in recent weeks. With it being clear that the Crimson Tide were going to not extend an offer from Metzner, the 6-foot-2, 215-pound edge rsuher became an obvious target for Jamarcus Shephard and his staff.
The staff worked quickly on getting Metzner on board and a silent commitment came in recent days.
Metzner is ranked a three-star prospect and a top-200 edge prospect nationally but is coming off a monster senior season with 111 tackles, including 24.5 sacks. Offensviely, he had 1,008 receiving yards and 274 rushing yards plus 17 touchdowns.
