We’re only 18 days away from Southern Miss kicking off their season at home against Mississippi State, so what better time to look at a few players on the offensive side of the ball that can not only turn heads in the stands, but can produce in big ways for the Golden Eagles this season.

Braylon Braxton – Quarterback

From preseason SBC Offensive Player of the Year, to being named on the watchlists for Maxwell, Wuerffel, Walter Camp, and O’Brien. Braylon Braxton arguably has the most attention of any Golden Eagle heading into the 2025 season, and seems primed for another solid season in his final year of college football. Braxton had a good performance in the Golden Eagles’ preseason scrimmage, passing for over 170 yards, and recording two touchdowns on Saturday afternoon. Something that could become a common and pleasant thing to look at and view in the Hub City this upcoming season.

Robert Briggs – Running Back

In the offensive the backfield, Robert Briggs is someone who will definitely turn heads not only amongst USM fans, but the Sun Belt as well. Briggs, coming off an injury, has shown good signs throughout fall camp such as recently recording a 13 yard touchdown in the Golden Eagles first preseason scrimmage this past Saturday. Briggs is a player that could lead the charge in the run game this season and prove a major impact for the offense.

Bralon Brown – Wide Receiver

Bralon Brown has become a noticeable name throughout the offseason and fall camp. From his performance in the Southern Miss spring game that saw him record six catches along with a touchdown, to his recent performance in Saturday’s scrimmage that saw him bring in five passes for 73 yards. Brown could be one of many go-to receivers for Braxton this season.

Kyrin Heath – Tight End

Coming into this season, Kyrin Heath could be primed for a breakout season. Heath has earned preseason all Sun Belt second team honors, and throughout the offseason has received praise from teammates such as Braylon Braxton who says “He has NFL potential. He really took the spring and this summer very seriously and I expect Kyrin to have a huge year for us at the tight end position.” Heath, who last season recorded 15 catches for 220 yards and two touchdowns, could be another player that could “flip the script” as he heads into his senior season.
