UCLA continued to add to its 2026 signing class Thursday, announcing the addition of Parker (Colo.) Legend three-star quarterback DJ Bordeaux — and he comes with ties to the new incoming coaching staff.

Bordeaux, the first quarterback signed in the class by the Bruins, backed off a commitment to Boston College in mid-November. The decision came a day after securing an offer from James Madison, whose head coach, Bob Chesney, agreed Monday to be the next UCLA head coach in a move yet to be announced by the school.

“What brought me to the decision of UCLA was the new staff,” Bordeaux told BruinBlitz. “I have been in contact with coach Chesney and his staff for a while now. I have grown to build a strong relationship with all of the coaches and I’m extremely eager to get to work.”

Bordeaux did not name any potential staff members who could be headed with Chesney to Westwood.

In his senior year, Bordeaux completed 62.6% of his pass attempts for 2,162 yards and 29 touchdowns with five interceptions. He also ran for 798 yards and 12 scores.

Bordeaux is ranked 56th overall nationally among quarterbacks in the Rivals Industry player rankings.

After the Bruins signed 12 players to the class Wednesday, the start of the early period, general manager Khary Darlington said “we’re expecting to have a few more people jump in.”

Among the potential possibilities, James Madison currently has seven 2026 commits unsigned as of Thursday evening.
