Coaches Poll: Louisville football misses out on Preseason Top 25

Earlier on Monday, the preseason college football Coaches Poll, and as a surprise to many, Louisville was left out of the Top 25.
However, the Cardinals did receive 126 votes, third-most among teams that were left unranked — Oklahoma (221) and Missouri (142) slid in just ahead of the U of L in the receiving votes category.
It looks like Louisville has picked up close to where they left off the 2024-25 season after a 9-4 campaign and a Sun Bowl win over Washington. When the final Associated Press Top 25 was released towards the end of January, the Cards were also unranked and received the third-most votes.
It’s worth noting, On3’s college football Brett McMurphy did include the Cards at No. 25 in his recent poll.
Head coach Jeff Brohm and his alma mater will face three teams included in this rendition of the Coaches Poll, including No. 6 Clemson (Fri. 11/14), No. 10 Miami (Fri. 10/17), and No. 16 Southern Methodist (Sat. 11/22). It’s a tough ACC slate for the Cards, who faced all three of these opponents last season, posting a 1-2 record against them.
With the Coaches Poll being released today, it’s expected that the AP Top 25 will release next Monday, August 11, at noon EST.
Louisville has had back-to-back nine-win seasons under Brohm and looks to continue the momentum in year three of his tenure. The Cardinals will open the season on August 30 against Eastern Kentucky at L&N Stadium.
