Insider: Louisville pass rush surpassing expectations in preseason

Louisville EDGE Ashton Gillotte’s 2024 season wasn’t one of huge numbers, but watching the tape, you’d see how other offensive lines prepared from him. The Cards’ problem? Nothing was coming from the other side of the defense. To address the issue, University of Louisville defensive line coach Mark Hagen and staff recruited several transfers who can rush the quarterback, and even without Gillotte, this group hasn’t taken as big a step back as expected. With the Cards through two of their three preseason 11-on-11 scrimmages (have one on Saturday), early reports show that the defensive ends and line have taken a step forward this fall and have impressed.
