Louisville sophomore running back Isaac Brown was named to the Walter Camp Preseason All-American second-team on Tuesday.

Brown was one of the best freshmen in all of college football last season. He ran for 1,173 yards and 11 touchdowns while averaging an ACC-best 7.1 yards per carry. The Homestead, Fla., native is the first true freshman to rush for over 1,000 yards and finish in the top-20 nationally in yards per carry.

Brown appeared in all 13 games, was first team All-ACC, and was the conference’s Rookie and Offensive Rookie of the Year. He ran for a career-high 178 yards against Kentucky, one of his five 100-plus yard games — tying former Heisman winner Lamar Jackson’s true freshman record.

In June, the 5-foot-9, 190-pound running back was named to Phil Steele’s 2025 Preseason All-American teams in the College Football Preview magazine. Brown was also named to Steele’s first-team Preseason All-ACC team. Steele picked the Cardinals to finish 6th in the conference this fall.

Athlon Sports also included Brown in their preseason All-American second-team today, making him one of six ACC skill positions to be listed as such (Cade Klubnik (Clem), Bryant Wesco (Clem), Justin Joly (NCSU), Antonio Williams (Clem), and Desmond Reid (Pitt)).

Brown and fellow sophomore Duke Watson will lead the charge in the Cardinals’ backfield as Louisville is anticipated to have one of the best running back rooms in the country. The Louisville football season starts in less than two months on Saturday, Aug. 30, against Eastern Kentucky.
