Kalib Perry, T.J. Capers first in line to step up for Louisville at linebacker

Returning three productive starters from last season, Louisville’s linebacker room was going to anchor its defense in the 2025 season, but just three weeks and two games into the season, the Cards are already searching for answers. Stanquan Clark’s ankle injury late against James Madison didn’t look good. And unfortunately for U of L, the outcome doesn’t look good either. “Unfortunately, Stanquan had lower-leg surgery. More than likely out for the year,” head coach Jeff Brohm said Monday. Brohm did go on to say that if Clark progresses, he could make an early return, although unlikely. “Could he come back late in the process? Possibly.” It’s a major loss for the Cardinals, and even though Clark may be able to retain a year of eligibility, Louisville needs the All-ACC candidate. Clark tallied 76 tackles, two forced fumbles, and two interceptions for Louisville last season. As a true freshman in 2023, Clark recorded 15 tackles and a forced fumble. Clark had six tackles against JMU before exiting. In the junior’s place, linebackers coach Mark Ivey will turn to Kalib Perry and T.J. Capers to make up for his production.
