Local 2027 PF Ferlandes Wright commits to Louisville

University of Louisville men’s basketball coach Pat Kelsey has secured his first commitment of the 2027 class.
Fairdale, Kentucky native Ferlandes Wright made it official, letting the world know he will be playing for the Cardinals Thursday night on his X account.
The three-star prospect is ranked 150th in the nation and the 24th overall power forward. Wright joins Khani Rooths and Mikel Brown as the only high school commits since Coach Kelsey took over in March 2024.
Growing up a Louisville “fan”
Growing up less than 10 miles from the University of Louisville, Wright was bound to be a Cardinal.
“Receiving an offer from Louisville was a dream come true. Being from and also being a fan of Louisville makes that offer extremely special to me.” Wright told Cardinal Sports in October.
Wright took a visit back in mid-October after a great summer playing for EYBL powerhouse Indy Heat. Ahead of his junior season, the 6-foot-7 and 220-pound forward has decided to take his talents to La Lumiere prep school in Indiana. Recently ranked as the No. 15 team in the country by ESPN, Wright will have the attention of scouts across the country.
The versatile scorer was able to see Louisville’s facilities, how the team plays, and most importantly, how Coach Kelsey runs his program. Wright was impressed by everything the Cards had to offer, coming away with high praise for his future coach.
“Coach PK is one of the best coaches I have ever witnessed. He is extremely invested in his job and creates a culture within the team like no other. He’s full of energy and makes you want to get up and dive on a ball even when just watching practice. The whole staff was really great, and it was overall a great experience,” Wright told Cardinal Sports in October.
Wright will now be the poster child for Louisville’s 2027 class. The Cards are in on many elite prospects in the junior class, giving out offers to Ryan Hampton, Bruce Branch, Marcus Spears Jr, Isaiah Hill, Obinna Ekezie Jr, Braxton Keathley, amongst others.
Louisville is currently 4-0 on the season with a big test against Cincinnati tomorrow. Kelsey will be locked in on the game, but spirits are high after receiving the team’s first commitment in the 2027 class.
