University of Louisville men’s basketball starts the 2025-26 season ranked as the

">No. 11 team in the nation.

It’s the first time the Cardinals have cracked the preseason Associated Press top-25 poll since 2019.

Other ACC programs included in the top 25 include Duke (No. 6) and North Carolina (No. 25), while NC State is receiving the most votes to be included in the poll. The Cards will face five opponents ranked in the preseason poll this season, including road trips to No. 14 Arkansas and No. 18 Tennessee.

In year one under Pat Kelsey, Louisville reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019 after posting 27 wins. The Cards’ “Reviville” season was one of the most exciting in school history and one where the U of L found itself ranked to end the season after finishing as the runner-up in the ACC.

Louisville will host 19th-ranked Kansas in the first exhibition of the season next Friday, October 24.

At Cardinal Sports, we’re previewing the highly anticipated winter by doing a player profile on all 12 scholarship players and ranking the players in terms of importance to a successful season.
