Louisville football officially announces 19 members of 2026 recruiting class on Signing Day
Through the first day of the early signing day period, Louisville football has officially announced the addition of 19 high school seniors to its 2026 recruiting class.
There weren’t too many surprises for head coach Jeff Brohm and his staff to manage on the period’s opening day. However, four-star defensive lineman Josiah Hope announced his flip from Louisville to Purdue. The North Hardin (Ky.) product had previously been verbally committed to both the Cardinals and Boilermakers.
On the positive side of a flip, three-star interior offensive lineman Benjamin Corhei signed with the Cardinals on Wednesday, as he chose Louisville over South Florida.
Hope and Gainesville (Ga.) lineman Krew Moledor are the only two commits who did not sign with the program on Wednesday.
Of the 19, four of which are from the Commonwealth, and five are out of the state of Florida, including the class’s top player, Jaydin Broadnax.
The defensive back from Boca Raton is the No. 216 overall prospect in the nation, as the Cards had to fight off the Gators, Michigan, Ole Miss, and Auburn in his recruitment. Broadnax finished his career with 116 tackles and four interceptions, two of which came in his senior season.
The class’s lone quarterback, Briggs Cherry, was one of the last to sign on Wednesday. He and fellow Baylor School tackle Charlie Edgeworth both signed together and will continue to play alongside each other in college.
Cherry qualified for the Elite 11 Finals, where he won the Accuracy Challenge. He and Edgeworth will play for a Division II Class AAA state championship. So far this season, Cherry has thrown for 2,800 yards and 29 touchdowns.
Other notable signings include star Freeport (Fla.) tight end Julius Miles, who has exploded this fall, and IMG Academy (Fla.) running back Lekhy Thompkins. Thompkins was a victim of potential poaching from both Miami and Colorado, which both tried to persuade the running back to decommit from Louisville. However, the 6-foot-1, 235-pound running back remained committed to the Cardinals, ultimately shutting down his recruitment.
Offensive tackle Jarvis Strickland has visited Louisville several times over the last year and was a huge flip in the summer. The Commonwealth’s No. 2 player was influenced heavily by Vince Marrow, who has done a lot of the heavy lifting with the late additions to the class.
Louisville’s 2026 class is currently ranked No. 47 in the nation and ranked 11th in the ACC after the first day of the signing period.
Next on the agenda for Brohm and the Cardinals is the transfer portal, which opens on Jan. 2. Last offseason, Louisville added 27 players seeking opportunities elsewhere.
