2026 three-star tight end Julius Miles announced his commitment to Louisville today.

The Freeport, Florida, native chose the Cardinals over ACC foes Florida State and Syracuse. On3 Industry ranks Miles as the No. 572 prospect and No. 32 tight end in the class. He is the second-ranked tight end out of the state of Florida.

“Louisville always makes it feel like home and the system they present to me is great. They need a Day One impact tight end and see me doing that. Also they have a loaded class” Miles told John Garcia of Rivals.

Miles’ commitment comes just two weeks after he visited Louisville on June 20, his final visit before announcing his finalists. The tight end did not have an official visit at FSU, but he visited Syracuse on June 6. He is the Cards’ 20th commitment in the 2026 class, one that went up to No. 36 in the On3 team rankings after four-star offensive tackle Jarvis Strickland’s commitment on Independence Day. The 2026 class is head coach Jeff Brohm’s largest since becoming the head man three years ago, and it’s also the largest class Louisville has added since Scott Satterfield brought in 28 players in the 2021 class.

However, the 6-foot-6, 194-pound Miles is just the second tight end in the class, joining Lebanon, Ohio, native Nick Lautar, who committed to the Cardinals on June 1.

Miles is a three-sport athlete at Freeport HS (Fla.), starring in football, basketball, and track and field. He’s already scored 1,000 points in his high school basketball career, 41 of which came in one game last December. He has played on the Adidas 3SSB circuit for AAU. On the track, Miles competed in the high jump.

Last season, Freeport football went 5-5, and Miles flashed as a junior, totaling 59 catches for 895 yards and seven touchdowns. He’s an elite athlete who is tough to bring down in the open field because of his size and has a good feel for high-pointing the ball through tight coverage. There are countless clips on Miles’ tape of him dragging defenders down the field with him. His sheer size is enough to widen your eyes when running full speed.

He’s capable out wide, but does need to add more strength if he wants to be a tight end in power-four college football. Miles is a good blocker on the perimeter and against smaller members on the secondary, but still needs to improve blocking on the line and working to the second level of the defense.

Still, Louisville’s getting a talented athlete who projects to be a versatile weapon in the college game.
