University of Louisville men’s basketball has been selected second in the ACC Preseason Poll, and two Cardinals, Mikel Brown Jr. and Ryan Conwell, were named to the Preseason All-ACC First Team.

The Louisville pair was the only duo from a school selected to the First Team. Joining them on the First Team were Duke’s Cameron Boozer, NC State’s Darrion Williams, and Notre Dame’s Markus Burton.

As a program, the No. 11 Cardinals got 15 first-place votes, but fell short of Duke’s 34.

Conwell enters his senior season with 1,353 career points in his three collegiate seasons. Over the course of his career, he has shot 39.3 percent from 3-point range.

The Indianapolis, Indiana, native started in all 34 games at Xavier, averaging 16.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. He shot 45 percent from the floor, including a 41.3 percent mark from distance. Conwell was named as a member of the Third-Team All-Big East.

Brown Jr. enters his freshman season as one of the youngest stars in college basketball. The five-star point guard suited up for USA Basketball this past summer, playing with the U19 National Team and winning a gold medal in the FIBA World Cup. He was also a McDonald’s All-American.

Louisville’s in action on October 24 at the KFC Yum! Center as the Cards host Kansas in an exhibition.
