The University of Louisville was unranked but receiving votes in the Associated Press Top 25 preseason poll on Monday afternoon.

Heading into year three of the Jeff Brohm era, this is the third time the Cards have been unranked ranked in the preseason with him at the helm. However, Louisville did receive 90 votes in the preseason poll – fourth most among ranked teams but behind BYU (156), Utah (144) and Baylor (132).

Louisville came in as the No. 25-ranked team in the nation in On3’s projected top 25

ACC teams in the poll include Clemson (No. 4) Miami (No. 10) and SMU (No. 16). The U of L will face all three this fall. Those are also the only three ranked opponents on the Louisville schedule as of August. Last season, the Cards finished with a 1-2 record against those schools.

Just last week, Louisville was also left off the preseason coaches poll. However, the Cardinals did receive 126 votes in the coaches poll, third-most among teams that were left unranked — Oklahoma (221) and Missouri (142) slid in just ahead of the U of L in the receiving votes category.

The Cardinals finished the 2024-25 season with a 9-4 record, and following a 35-34 Sun Bowl victory over Washington, they received 38 votes in the poll, just three spots outside finishing with a top 25 ranking.

Louisville will open the season at home on August 30 against FCS opponent Eastern Kentucky at L&N Stadium. The Cardinas have had back-to-back nine-win seasons under Brohm and look to continue the momentum in year three of his tenure.
