Miller Moss and Isaac Brown named to Maxwell Award Preseason Watch List

Louisville quarterback Miller Moss and running back Isaac Brown have been named to the Maxwell Award Preseason Watch List.
The award is given to the most outstanding player in college football. Additionally, the University of Louisville is one of five ACC schools with more than one player recognized. The ACC has 17 players added to the preseason list — tied for the most in the country.
Statement from the ACC: “Continuing to showcase its national prominence and depth of talent, the Atlantic Coast Conference had a nation-leading 17 football student-athletes named to the preseason watch list for the 89th Maxwell Award, presented annually to the most outstanding player in college football. The ACC’s 17 selections tie the SEC for the most among all conferences, with the league’s 11 quarterbacks leading all conferences at the position, highlighting the ACC’s strong tradition of dynamic quarterback play heading into the 2025 season. Clemson, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Pitt and Virginia Tech each had two players recognized, while Duke, Florida State, Miami, NC State, SMU, Virginia and Wake Forest each had one honoree.”
Moss transfers over from USC, where he spent four years under head coach Lincoln Riley. The 6-foot-2 signal-caller started the first nine games of the year, throwing for 2,555 yards, 18 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He was benched for the final three games of the season. Moss will be entering his final season of eligibility.
Brown, just now a true sophomore, proved himself to be one of the best running backs in the conference. He broke Lamar Jackson’s Louisville freshman rushing record, and on 165 carries, rushed for 1,173 yards and 11 touchdowns. The 5-foot-9 all-purpose back was named a freshman All-American and ACC Rookie of the Year.
As a backfield tandem, Moss and Brown have a chance to be one of the best offensive duos in the conference. The two have both been the presumed starters at their positions through the spring and into the summer, with fall camp starting on July 30.
The Maxwell Football Club, the group that determines the award winners, has partnered with Pro Football Focus and Phil Steele publications to use metric-based parameters for the recipient.
Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced on November 11, while the three finalists for the Maxwell Award will be unveiled later that month. The winner of the Award will be announced as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show on December 11.
