Three-star athlete Devonte Anderson commits to Louisville

West Orange’s (Fla.) three-star athlete Devonte Anderson announced his commitment to the Louisville football program Friday afternoon live at his high school.
On3 Industry Rankings lists Anderson as the No. 877 player and the No. 40-ranked athlete in the 2026 class.
After offering him on February 20, the Cardinals have been leaders in the talented defensive backs recruitment for quite some time. Anderson chose Louisville over Rutgers, Maryland, UCF, Auburn, and ACC foe, Miami (FL). The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder visited The Ville on May 30.
Anderson projects as a defensive back at the college level, but got snaps at both wide receiver and cornerback in his junior year. On defense, the Winter Garden, Florida, product picked off three passes and added 38 tackles and 10 pass breakups. As a receiver, Anderson totaled 26 catches for 447 yards and three touchdowns.
The Winter Garden, Florida, native very well may be one of the more underrated cornerback prospects in the country. Anderson is a big hitter at his position and excels in physical press-man coverage. His technique in one-on-one man coverage is crisp, and his physicality translates to the run game, where he is an aggressive stopper. And like many talented DBs at the high school level, his mix of speed and athleticism is lethal in the open field, and it can make him an elusive runner in the return game, which is mainly why he has fared so well on the offensive side of the football. He also doesn’t give up on plays. In one highlight, his man slips by him for a big reception, but when chasing him down, Anderson rips the ball free at the 10 yard-line.
The Cardinals have hit the Sunshine State hard in recent weeks, gaining commitments from Freeport’s Julius Miles and Carrollwood Day’s DJ Williams in recent weeks. Not to mention, Louisville’s top-rated commit in the class, West Boca Raton’s Jaydin Broadnax — who also happens to be a cornerback. Kris Brunson is the other cornerback committed to the UofL in the class of 2026.
Anderson is the fourth member of the class to commit to Louisville in the past week, joining Miles, ex-Kentucky commit Jarvis Strickland, and Valley’s (Iowa) Jayden McGregory. He is the 22nd commit overall, the U of L’s largest high school class since 2021.
On top of kids who play multiple sports, Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm has prioritized athletes who can make plays in the recruiting process. Anderson, a perfect example of that, is the full package on the football field.
