After a strong defensive display in the 28-14 week two win over James Madison, University of Louisville linebacker TJ Quinn was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Linebacker of the Week.

Quinn recorded a season high 11 tackles, five of which were solo, as the UofL defense held James Madison to just 263 yards of total offense. The 6-foot-1, 235-pound linebacker also added one of Louisville’s six sacks in the win over JMU. He is the second of two Cardinals to be named an ACC position player of the week, after running back Isaac Brown was the conference’s best back against Eastern Kentucky.

The native of Valdosta, Ga., recorded one of the team’s season high six sacks on the evening as the Cards limited the Dukes to just 137 yards passing on the night.

Last season, the redshirt senior led Louisville in tackles with 82 combined and 35 solo in 13 games. Quinn, a captain, also totaled four tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and a forced fumble. He has led the U of L in tackles in back-to-back seasons.

With a potential long-term injury to fellow Louisville linebacker Stanquan Clark, Quinn will be a vital piece of the defense.

The Cards host Bowling Green on Saturday, Sept. 20 at Noon on the ACC Network.
