CI's Week 13 SEC Power Rankings

The 2025 college football regular season is almost in the books. It has been a wild and unpredictable season in the SEC with more upsets and more unexpected upward and downward movement than we’re accustomed to. That has happened in a climate where coaches are getting fired right and left.
Here are CI’s updated Week 13 SEC Power Rankings.
1. Georgia
The Bulldogs do have a close home loss to Alabama but that’s not a bad loss. The Crimson Tide have two defeats but as many quality wins as anyone. Georgia pulled away late against Texas for a 35-10 home win against a top-10 opponent. At the current time Georgia looks like the SEC’s best chance at a national championship although several contenders remain.
2. Texas A&M
How did Texas A&M drop from the top spot while remaining undefeated? It just depends on how you look at the win against South Carolina. How did the Aggies find themselves down 30-3 at halftime? And how did they come back so quickly and easily?
3. Ole Miss
It wasn’t easy, but it’s college football in 2025. Ole Miss was on the ropes at home against Florida but outlasted the Gators 34-24. The overall body of work is very impressive with Ole Miss at 10-1 (6-1 SEC). All that remains in the regular season is a game against Mississippi State.
4. Oklahoma
Credit where due. A couple of weeks ago we were looking at Oklahoma’s remaining schedule and it looked tough to navigate. Now the Sooners are riding high and the win against Alabama gives OU as many top-15 wins as the Tide has. While Oklahoma was outgained about 2-to-1 Brent Venables were very adamant that those turnovers were forced, and they were.
5. Alabama
Is Alabama really only the fifth-best team in the SEC? It’s hard to say that with a straight face even after the Tide lost at home to Oklahoma 23-21, falling to the Sooners for the second consecutive season. This team has the “punch up” ability to beat anyone in the country so if they get into the playoff they should be a problem. If Alabama beats Auburn the Tide is very likely in the SEC Championship Game and may even be a favorite in that game.
6. Vanderbilt
Most people have had Vanderbilt outside the top tier of SEC teams for most of the season but the Commodores are good enough to beat anyone when things are clicking. Vandy was off this weekend and is back in action on Saturday. They’re home against Kentucky and then get Tennessee. If Vandy wins both of those games it would have a playoff case at 10-2 and 6-2 in the SEC.
7. Tennessee
Tennessee is one of many teams in the SEC that are probably capable of jumping up and beating almost anyone on a given day. But they have three losses and still a game with Vanderbilt remains. They also get Florida on the road this weekend and are just 3.5-point favorites.
8. Texas
The Longhorns hung with Georgia on the road for three quarters but didn’t have the firepower to keep it up. Texas only rushed for 23 yards against Georgia. It’s going to be tough to win on the road when that happened.
9. Missouri
Ahmad Hardy went absolutely wild against Mississippi State, rushing for 300 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries as Mizzou scored seven touchdowns against the Bulldogs. If the passing game had been better this year then more could have been on the table. Missouri goes on the road to No. 11 Oklahoma and that won’t be easy with a largely one dimensional offense. But the Arkansas game at the end of the year is very winnable so Mizzou should get to at least eight wins.
10. Kentucky
Kentucky has been one of the SEC’s upstart teams over the second half of the season. The Wildcats have ripped off three consecutive wins. None of those wins were against especially good teams but anybody who watches Kentucky play can tell the product is improving and things are coming together.
11. LSU
LSU, without Brian Kelly, barely beat Arkansas at home. The Razorbacks don’t have an SEC win. LSU is one of the most disappointing teams in the country. That Week 1 game against Clemson wasn’t nearly what we thought it would be in hindsight.
12. Florida
Florida is what it has been during the Billy Napier era. They’re good enough to take advantage of a bad day and bad enough to make you wonder what the heck is happening. At 3-7 (2-5 SEC) the Gators belong towards the bottom of the league but they’re a more balanced and capable team on good days than the others below them.
13. Auburn
For Auburn (4-6) to get to six wins the Tigers have to beat Mercer and then Alabama. That’s not going to be easy with Alabama likely playing for a berth in the SEC Championship Game. Auburn does have a quality defense with opponents scoring only 20.4 points per game.
14. South Carolina
The Gamecocks don’t climb much but you have to be somewhat capable to go up 30-3 on the road at Texas A&M, right? Then we saw the downside when the lead slipped away very quickly in the second half. In the big picture this is a 3-7 team and the only SEC win was against Kentucky when the Wildcats weren’t playing so well.
15. Mississippi State
It’s going to be tough for Mississippi State to make a bowl game now. The Bulldogs, 5-6 overall, lost to Mizzou on the road 49-27. It was close for a while but the Tigers pulled away.
16. Arkansas
From one week to the next even Arkansas is capable of causing some problems. Arkansas nearly won at LSU and there have been plenty of other close calls. But somebody has to go in the bottom and Arkansas, winless in the SEC, is as good a choice as any.
