Shawnee, Kansas center Ethan Taylor is the latest basketball prospect to announce an offer from Kentucky so it’s a perfect time to get to know the 7-footer from the 2026 class a little better.

Taylor is already a two-time state champion in Kansas and he participates from Mokan’s 17U squad on the EYBL circuit.

Rivals ranks Taylor the No. 21 player in the 2026 class. While he has been in Kansas to this point, Taylor is transferring to Link Academy in Branson, Missouri.

On3’s Jamie Shaw caught up with Taylor just more than a week ago, before the Wildcats were an option. During the course of that conversation Taylor talked about visits to KU and Kansas State, with the 7-footer noting that he didn’t learn anything new at either school since he was already so familiar. He did say that Jerome Tang has increased his communication since the visit, and the facilities and technology stand out in the KU program.

Taylor also noted that Indiana’s entire staff has reached out, he has an “amazing” relationship with Missouri’s staff because of a two-year courtship, and Florida State is selling the NBA.

Given that both power conference schools in Taylor’s home state are pursuing him it’s worth pointing out that he has said location will not play a factor in his decision. He told Shaw, “Because if I want to get to where I want to get to, and be what I want to be, I’ll have to make tough sacrifices to be far away from my family to get there.”

Kentucky could hold appeal because Taylor likes the idea of the game going through him and the Wildcats put a lot on Amari Williams and Brandon Garrison in their offense last season.

Taylor is an emerging shot blocker and rim protection could be a big part of his game as he moves on to the next level.

Mark Pope and his staff have offered a number of players from the 2026 class, including a number of big men. In addition to Taylor, UK has offered center prospects Arafan Diane and Josh Irving, as well as power forwards Tyran Stokes, Christian Collins, Cameron Williams, and Miikka Muurinen.
