UVa has now landed in-state commitments on back-to-back days. Virginia’s 2026 recruiting class grew to 11 on Monday, when Richmond-area receiver DaMari Carter made the call for the Hoos. Carter, a three-star prospect from Varina High School, is the #17 ranked player in the Commonwealth, and is a three-star prospect with a 5.6 rating. Carter’s commitment comes just a day after UVa landed Oscar Smith defensive back Jayden Covil

Carter ultimately picked Virginia over fellow finalists Maryland and Virginia Tech, after recently taking visits to all three. Carter also held offers from Indiana, Pitt and others. Carter becomes the third wide receiver commit in UVa’s 2026 class, joining fellow in-state product Josiah Teasley and Alabama native Dylan Cope, both of whom committed to the Cavaliers in June. Carter is listed as 6-foot, 180 pounds.

Carter’s commitment less than a day after Covil’s helps the Hoos build some momentum within the Commonwealth. UVa now has four in-state commitments in the 2026 class, with Carter and Covil joining Rustburg DB Alex Dunn and Teasley, who plays at the St. James Academy in Fairfax County.
