Big 12 retracts fine for Colorado after field storm vs. Iowa State

Colorado won’t face a fine for its field storm of Folsom Field following an upset win over Iowa State. BuffZone’s Brian Howell reported the news Wednesday.
“The Big 12 informed Colorado on Tuesday that it ‘executed its field storm management procedures,'” Howell wrote on TwitterX. “And will not receive a fine for fans rushing the field after Saturday’s 24-17 win against then-No. 22 Iowa State.”
Funny enough, head coach Deion Sanders thought it was ridiculous that there was a $50,000 fine on the table for field storming. Although, he loved the passion from the Buffaloes’ fans and the fact it seemed like a safe and organized field storm, for what it’s worth.
“I love it,” Sanders said of fans storming the field. “I love it as long as we control our, you know, we don’t want to do nothing stupid. I mean, I think we got the field goal thing that lets down. Now, what you gonna do with a field goal when you tear it down anyway … Put it in your front yard of your frat house? You know, then you telling on yourself. I don’t understand that, but I love it. I want to see the kids rush the field. I absolutely love it. I mean, hats off to our security team. They do a good job ushering me in. But I love to see it. I really do.”
Sanders was then asked about the fine for rushing the field. Coach Prime was actually unaware of such a rule.
“Is it a fine for rushing the field,” Sanders said. “What is it? 50 what? For rushing the field? How is it 50 thousand for rushing the field? Who made that a rule? Come on man. That ain’t right I mean, these kids, well, we have $50,000 right? We can chip in. Let’s chip in … Wow, that’s, that’s, shoot. I’m sorry. Wow, 50 grand. All right, next question.”
Now at 3-4, a bowl game is still on the table for Colorado for the second straight year. Fans storming the field is normal after an upset, but it might’ve been a sense of relief for Colorado fans considering close and frustrating losses to BYU and TCU in recent weeks.
In the win, Sanders saw QB Kaidon Salter throw for 255 yards, two touchdowns and run for 57 more. The defense hunkered down in the fourth quarter too. Overall, they forced a Rocco Becht interception and didn’t allow any points in the final frame.
