Brown named Big 12 player of week, Crooks to Starting Five as Iowa State stays unbeaten
Iowa State junior Addy Brown was named Big 12 Player of the Week and teammate Audi Crooks was selected to the league’s Starting Five following standout performances in Week 6.
It was the second Player of the Week honor of Brown’s career and the fifth Starting Five selection this season for Crooks. The pair helped the 10th-ranked Cyclones to a 12-0 start, the program’s first since the 2013-14 season and just the fourth undefeated nonconference record in school history. With victories over Iowa and Northern Iowa, along with an earlier win at Drake, the Cyclones swept their in-state opponents for the first time since 2021-22.
Brown scored at least 20 points in both games, including a season-high 28 in a win over UNI. She shot 10 of 20 from the field and 4 of 7 from 3-point range in that game, finishing the week at nearly 55% shooting. Brown recorded double-doubles in both contests, giving her five this season, tied for 10th nationally, and ranked among the Big 12’s top three players in scoring and rebounding averages for the week.
Crooks led Iowa State with 30 points and 10 rebounds in a win over No. 11 Iowa, shooting 13 of 20 from the floor and adding a block. She missed the UNI game because of an injury but is expected to return for the Cyclones’ Big 12 opener.
Iowa State opens conference play Sunday at home against Kansas. Tipoff is set for noon on ESPN at Hilton Coliseum.
