An early Cyclone priority has been named to the initial Rivals100 list for the Class of 2028, cementing his status as the state’s top recruit in the rising sophomore class and one of the best in the country.

Dowling Catholic standout offensive lineman Carter Barrett has seen his recruiting stock soar since receiving an Iowa State offer in January of this year. Since then, the 6-foot-5, 280-pound interior lineman has added Power-4 ones from Iowa, Missouri, Alabama, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Minnesota, Kansas, Kansas State, Texas A&M, Arkansas and Maryland.

In the first Rivals100 of the 2028 class, Barrett checks in as the 87th-ranked overall prospect and the #4 interior offensive lineman nationally.

Barrett has traveled to Iowa State on four different occasions, most recently making his way to Ames for a prospect camp on June 1st, and is planning to return for next month’s Cy-Hawk game.

“They’re doing good,” said Barrett earlier this summer on the Cyclones’ recruitment of him. “They stay in contact with me as much as they’re able to and it’s always good because I can come up here literally whenever. It’s a very quick drive with how close they are.

“It’s always good to be up here and I’ll be back here again sometime soon. I love the staff here and they’re always good people here. It’s always enjoyable to be here. I was able to talk to Coach (Matt) Campbell for a bit. Really, I have talked to every coach I’ve wanted to. I’ve talked to them and learned from them what they expect.”
