Iowa Hawkeyes running back Jaziun Patterson (4) runs with the ball as Iowa State Cyclones' defensive line Domonique Orange (95) and linebacker Rylan Barnes (41) attempt to tackle during the third quarter in the Cy-Hawk football at Jack Trice Stadium on Sept. 6, 2025, in Ames, Iowa

Iowa State defensive lineman Domonique Orange was named the Bednarik Award National Player of the Week after his performance in the Cyclones’ 16-13 win over Iowa on Saturday.

Orange recorded a career-high six tackles and a quarterback hurry while facing Iowa center Logan Jones, a 2024 honorable mention All-American and first-team All-Big Ten selection. Orange’s presence often drew multiple Hawkeye offensive linemen, creating openings for the Cyclone defense.

With Orange leading the defensive front, Iowa State finished with six tackles for loss, three sacks and four quarterback hurries. The defense held Iowa to 83 passing yards and 214 yards of total offense.

No. 14 Iowa State will travel to Arkansas State for its Week 3 game. Kickoff from Jonesboro is set for 3 p.m. Central time on ESPN2.
