Iowa State’s Addy Brown named to Katrina McClain Award preseason watch list

Iowa State junior forward Addy Brown has been named to the Katrina McClain Power Forward of the Year preseason watch list, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced Thursday.
It is the second time Brown has been featured on the watch list after being selected as a top-10 finalist last season.
Brown joins teammate Jada Williams, who was named to the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year watch list, as Cyclones on Naismith Starting 5 award lists this season. Iowa State is one of 23 women’s programs with at least two players recognized. With men’s players Tamin Lipsey (Bob Cousy Award), Milan Momcilovic (Julius Erving Award) and Joshua Jefferson (Karl Malone Award) also on preseason lists, Iowa State is one of six schools with five total student-athletes honored.
Brown is considered one of the most well-rounded players in the country. She is the only player in program history — and one of just six in Division I women’s basketball since 1999-2000 — to record at least 400 points, 250 rebounds and 150 assists in multiple seasons.
The Derby, Kansas, native has started all 68 games of her career. Last season, she averaged 15.2 points, 7.7 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game, scoring in double figures 28 times and topping 20 points in 11 games. She scored a career-high 41 points in the Big 12 Tournament second round against Arizona State on March 6, 2025.
Iowa State opens the regular season Nov. 3 against St. Thomas at 11 a.m. in Hilton Coliseum for its annual Field Trip Day game.
