Demond Claiborne wins ACC honor

Wake Forest’s Demond Claiborne was named the ACC’s running back of the week for his performance against Western Carolina.
The senior had 193 yards and three touchdowns on 10 carries against the Catamounts. That came after Claiborne only played four snaps against Kennesaw State in the season opener because of an injury.
“Offensively, obviously you can see what happens when Demond Claiborne’s out there,” coach Jake Dickert said at his Monday afternoon press conference. “He’s the table setter for our offense.”
Claiborne’s 85-yard touchdown run in the third quarter was Wake’s longest run since 2019, when Kenneth Walker III had a 96-yard touchdown run against Rice.
His 193 yards were the most since Cade Carney rolled up 223 against Duke in the 2018 regular-season finale.
With 212 yards this season, Claiborne is up to 1,904 for his Wake Forest career. He’s up to 15th all-time on Wake’s all-time rushing list, having passed five players with his performance over the weekend.
