Wake Forest loses DE commit from '27 class
Elijah Wright announced Friday morning that he has decommitted from Wake Forest.
The defensive end from Katy, Texas, committed to the Deacons in April after visiting for the spring game. Shortly after, he recapped with Deacons Illustrated what he liked about the program.
Wright has not announced any new offers via social media since his commitment. Among the teams who had offered is Mississippi State, Wake’s opponent in last year’s bowl game that is also enjoying a surge in regional/national attention.
Wake’s Class of 2027 still stands at more than 30 players. The Deacons have three other edge defenders — Sammy Dantonka, Esa Wittinburg and Joshua Simmons — committed to join the program next year.
