Dylan Lonergan and Grayson James fire passes during early indy drills on Day 5 of camp (8/5/25 By Kevin Stone)

Five days down in camp, 25 to go until the opener.

BC finished up Day 5 of training camp on Wednesday morning after an off day following two good practices Saturday and Sunday.

Here’s everything that stood out during the two hour session as the Eagles continue to ramp up towards August 30:

1-v-1s (WRs & DBs)

First live 1-v-1 period we’ve gotten so far in camp following indy, stretch & some walkthrough. QBs rotate every snap or every other, so just charted WR-DB matchups as best I could, it’s pretty rapid fire…

-Syair Torrence PBU against Luke McLaughlin on a crosser (McLaughlin had a really nice day as the next guy up with Lewis Bond dressed, but sitting out for a maintenance day)
-Skeete beats Isaiah Farris deep, but Lonergan overthrows him
-Completion to Nedrick Boldin Jr. (missed against who)
-Ashton McShane locks up Dawson Pough
-Boldin Jr. catch against freshman Ashton Cunningham
-Catch over the middle for Ismael Zamor (missed against who)
-Datrell Jones beats Max Tucker on a quick little route outside
-Redshirt sophomore Bryce Dopson beats freshman Max Tejpaul for a grab
-Zamor grab on the sideline against freshman Rae Sykes Jr.
-Freshman Tim Longo beats classmate Njita Sinkala
-McLaughlin catch (missed against who)
-Nice comeback and catch for Reed Harris against Carter Davis
-Semaj Fleming (another guy who had a good day) catch against Marcelous Townsend
-Skeete hitch and grab vs. Farris
-14 on 14 crime as Cunningham gets a PBU against Boldin Jr. in a good battle and drawing a big cheer from the other DBs

Red zone work

Grayson James: Tip ball at the LOS picked off by Bam Crouch, Sedarius McConnell run stuff, 5-yard run for Jordan McDonald, well-designed play has wide Skeete open in the end zone but the ball is underthrown and he can’t reel it in.

Dylan Lonergan: Run for little gain, wide open 17-ish yard TD up the seam for freshman Stevie Amar Jr., good run for Alex Broome, PBU on the goal line for Townsend against Fleming.

Team period

Walkthrough then back to some team.

James: Josiah Griffin and Edwin Kolenge run stuff (bobbled handoff/no handoff decision by James), completion to Zeke Moore, hard run by Turbo Richard, dart on a deep-ish in to Zamor vs. Tucker, hard run followed by a screen to Broome

Lonergan: Comeback to Harris, run stuff for Favor Bate in the backfield after flying off the edge (I can’t wait for you all to see this kid play), Owen Stoudmire and Omar Thornton run stuff, crosser to Jeremiah Franklin.

I have it written down here so I should probably mention it now…the pass protection was excellent at this point, throughout the morning and really, it has been for at least the last two practices, maybe three.

7-on-7s

After some kickoff return work (again, there’s a lot of guys to pick from, I’d say it’s probably Cam Martinez for now, but long way to go and plenty of options) it was 7-on-7 time for a bit.

James: Swing to Broome, McLaughlin drop (maybe a bit high but catchable), crosser to McLaughlin, incomplete deep to Skeete by a good margin (would-be TD), throw to the flat for Turbo, completion on the sideline to Fleming

Lonergan: Swing to McDonald, hitch for Kaelan Chudzinski, PBU for Tucker against Zamor, crosser to Fleming, crosser to McLaughlin, comeback to McLaughlin

Team (tempo/down & distance)

Situational down & distance work with tempo added for a couple series…

James: Throw to the flat for Broome, hard run Broome, PI on McShane against Pough on a deep ball along the sideline, 70-yard TD run for James. Vaughn Pemberton stayed with him down the right side of the field and almost caught James just before the goal line, but couldn’t.

Lonergan: Run, incompletion, Farris holding on Harris, McLaughlin on a crosser, hard run by Turbo, McConnell run stuff, deep out to Skeete (dart of a throw)

Final team red zone period

Following a period of working on downing punts inside the five and also what they’ll do when backed up in their own end zone, BC wrapped up with one last team period down in the red zone again…

James: Incomplete up the seam in the end zone to Turbo (had both Lockwood and Richard, was just off Richard’s hands), short pass to Franklin, TD to McLaughlin on a crosser, PBU in the EZ for KP Price (should have been picked).

Lonergan: Swing to Broome, run stuff for Bryce Steele, hard run for Broome, pass up the seam to Pough just shy of the goal line, run stuff for Bate, trick play ends with a TD and he follows that with a TD run, ‘sack’ by Kolenge.

During one series for Enzo Arjona, Bo MacCormack trucked redshirt freshman Tommy Cusick III on his way to the end zone. On a swing pass two snaps later, Mekhi Dodd did the same to a defender near the goal line along the sideline. Both young local guys have been impressive in their limited reps so far.

Sprints wrapped things up before breaking into positional groups. Eagles are back at it Wednesday morning (I’ll be down at Gillette for joint with the Commanders) before a day off on Thursday. Three straight days for the first time Friday-Sunday loom on the horizon.
